About the Role

Job Description: Energize is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Deputy Editor. This multifaceted position combines editorial oversight with the creation of high-quality technical news articles within the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism, with a specific focus on producing engaging and informative content related to energy production, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and industry trends. The Deputy Editor will play a pivotal role in shaping the publication's editorial direction while also contributing their expertise through original articles.


Responsibilities:

  1. Content Creation: Write original technical news articles within the energy sector, covering topics such as energy production, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and industry trends.

  2. Content Curation: Curate and commission additional articles from freelance and in-house writers, ensuring that content meets Energize's standards for accuracy, clarity, and relevance.

  3. Editorial Oversight: Oversee the editorial process, including editing articles, fact-checking, production and ensuring adherence to Energize's editorial guidelines and style standards.

  4. Collaboration: Work closely with writers, contributors, and other editorial team members to develop engaging content that resonates with Energize's audience.

  5. Research and Analysis: Stay informed about developments in the energy sector, conducting research and analysis to identify newsworthy topics and trends for coverage.

  6. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all content meets Energize's editorial standards and is published on schedule according to the publication's editorial calendar.

  7. Community Engagement: Engage with Energize's audience through networking, events, social media, and other channels, fostering a sense of community and encouraging discussion around energy-related topics.

Requirements

  1. Background in Journalism: A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is preferred.

  2. Technical Expertise: Understanding of technical concepts related to energy production, renewable energy, and emerging technologies is preferred.

  3. Writing Skills: Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information in an accessible and engaging manner.

  4. Editing Skills: Strong editing skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to uphold editorial standards.

  5. Deadline-Oriented: Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  6. Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  7. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the energy sector and a passion for staying informed about industry developments and trends.

  8. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with contributors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
